Red the Robot

Additional Information for Red the Robot® Resources

Store Red the Robot®, the Magic Stars, storybooks and activity cards in the Class Set box when not in use to ensure this product works as effectively as possible. Please read the Teacher Instruction Booklet before using Red for the first time.

DO NOT use Red near any modems or other electronic equipment which may interfere with the transmission of the signal from the Magic star to Red. You may need to move him around the classroom until you find the place where he works best. You may need to switch off your interactive whiteboard at the plug. If you have a sound field system in your class please either switch off or turn the main box switch to 'B'.

Ensure that each Magic Star is charged using the DC jack in the back of Red the Robot® for at least 10 minutes prior to the FIRST use. Press the small buttons underneath the star and if the lights do not flash, the star will need to be charged.

Remember to change Red's batteries (3 x AA) on a regular basis.

Always make sure Red is facing you when you are learning with him.

Always select the correct mode for Red i.e. "Are you ready to have some learning fun?" to work with the activity cards or "Shall we read a story together?" to use the interactive story books.

If Red goes into sleep mode and stops talking (after 5 minutes inactivity) press GO to wake him up.

Make sure your Magic Star is pressed correctly onto the interactive learning cards and story books to register them. Press firmly and avoid covering the LED at the top of the star.

While every effort has been made to ensure Red the Robot® works every time please ensure these simple steps have been followed. If Red does not work, please check the magic star has been charged, change the 3 AA batteries and switch off any electronic equipment or move Red to a different area.
